Vaca Muerta Gas Reaches Brazil via Bolivia: Inside the New Transit Route

Argentina has started sending Vaca Muerta gas to Brazil through Bolivia in a first-of-its-kind transit deal. The pilot moved 500,000 m3 on April 1, 2025 via Argentina’s northbound pipelines, Bolivia’s YPFB network, and the GASBOL trunkline. The move flips old trade flows, eases Brazil’s costs, gives Bolivia transit income, and opens a new path for regional energy integration—with scale-up plans and alternative routes already on the table.
